Species Reintroductions

Many species have been lost entirely from Cornwall, and yet more are living in small populations which have become isolated through habitat loss and fragmentation, thereby increasing their risk of extinction.  In response to this, conservationists are searching for innovative, more effective methods of species conservation. One such method is the translocation or reintroduction of species into formerly occupied habitat. Species reintroductions involve strict guidelines and licensing to ensure that current best practice is followed and up-to-date scientific techniques are used.

See our projects page for more information about our current species reintroduction activities.
